AMAZING STORY!
This 30 year old male red horse was rescued along with
his little cream colored Goat buddy. They had bonded and loved each other very much.
The shelter folks thought it would be best for the horse and his little pal stay together. :)

Yogi was Rescued! Great work to all you crossposters!!! You may not think it accomplishes much, BUT IT DOES! It makes me feel so good that there are caring, compassionate people out there like y'all making up for all the heartless ones
For those of you that were following this little guy's story...GOOD NEWS!!!! He turned out to be a SHE and was rescued! Yay! Thanks to all of you that cross-posted and shared "her" story. The word went out far and wide and our prayers were answered. Last we heard, she was on her way to New York.
Sweet older shepherd mix that wandered into someone's yard Sunday afternoon (01/16/2011) in Maidens, Goochland (VA).....
FOLLOW UP:
I picked up Humphrey at the Goochland Shelter at 10:30 am Monday and took him directly to Brook Run Animal Clinic for vetting. (Eliza, the daughter of foster Elizabeth Cart, named him Humphrey.) I transported Humphrey to foster family in Amelia immediately after vetting. He is doing well (all things considered) and is a very sweet guy. Elizabeth and family are awesome! They are treating Humphrey like one of their five dogs. He is housed in the heated tack room in their stable on their beautiful horse farm. He has access to a large fenced area with a dog door to the stable. What a wonderful foster situation for him! A brief review of Humphrey's physical state after being vetted on Monday: 1) he's about 10 years old and weighs 67#, 2) has severe cataracts (virtually no vision in left eye and about 50% right, 3) is heartworm positive (now on Interceptor/vet said he would not survive full heartworm treatment), 4) has hip dysplasia and significant muscle atrophy in hind legs but does a pretty good job getting around, 5) has Whipworms (being treated with Drontal) and 6) received Rabies and DPTT shots. This old guy is a survivor! God bless him.
